Raw Cacao & Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate: Vegan

Craving something warm, sweet and deliciously tasty? What about a Vegan Raw Cacao & Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate? Yes, please!

This will only take about 5-10 minutes to whip up and is so rich you’ll only need one cup to satisfy your tasty tastebuds.

Serves 4 mugs

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/3 cup raw cacao powder, sifted
  • 2 tbsp all natural peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp of desiccated coconut
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons of agave nectar

Directions:

  1. In a hot pot, place the almond milk and sift the raw cacao powder in slowly.
  2. Whilst still whisking throw in the peanut butter, desiccated coconut, salt and the agave nectar and whisk like crazy.
  3. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for a few minutes until it gets thick & creamy.
  4. Take four mugs and lightly smooth the edge with a bit of agave nectar then press the edges into finely shredded coconut and pour the hot chocolate into the mugs.
  5. ENJOY!

Health Benefits:

Hot cacao is a great way to consume something nutritious while feeling decadent. But you should buy cacao in its raw form, rather than the highly processed, low-grade hot chocolates that contain nothing but empty kilojoules and little in the way of true cacao.

Raw cacao contains so many important vitamins and minerals like magnesium, calcium, zinc, flavonoids, oleic acids, protein, fiber and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5 and B9.

Just don’t go crazy on it – there’s still a fair few calories in this drink, but the good thing is that because of the high level of raw cacao, you won’t crave more than one mug so you get all the health benefits without feeling guilty and let’s face it – we all love that!
