Hands up if you love a sheet mask? Yeah, me too!

However, I wasn’t always a find, to be completely honest. I always felt like they were a little stiff and never really stuck properly to my face, but after having tested lots (and I do mean LOTS) of different sheet masks, I’ve finally found myself a few favourite ones that I wanted to share with you.

The best thing about sheet masks? No mess & super easy to travel with. Win/win, right?

Let’s get into a few favourites below:

STARSKIN – VIP Crème de la Crème

The inner layer is coated with a remarkable 18g of super-concentrated, luxurious cream while the outer protective layer functions as a shield. This delivery system allows you to force-feed dry and depleted skin with almost half a jar of cream in just one treatment to ensure ultimate nourishment and absorption, and spectacular results.

GO TO – Transformazing

The blend of natural botanicals such as kakadu plum, finger lime tasmanian pepper leaf work together, and in just 10 minutes leave the skin plumper and brighter. The skin tone is left more even, whilst the addition of niacinamide and hyadisine leave the skin plumper, hydrated and ready for any event with this sheet mask.

This unique hydrogel mask is formulated with Moringa pterygosperma, a seed extract as well as a seaweed extract, known to purify skin for a healthy-looking complexion. This is no ordinary sheet mask. It is made of 100% hydrogel material which contours to your skin, sealing in the formula for optimal absorption and is clinically proven to hydrate.

Okay, so I always get so many question about my skincare routine, which products I use and how I keep my skin glowing & happy, especially when I’m suffering from Cystic Acne.

One of those questions, in particular, is what type of Facials I get, so I thought it’d be a good idea to elaborate on the difference between them all, why I get them and how often I do so.

I’ve been going to Laser Clinics Australia Bondi Junction for almost 3 years, and it’s one of the only places I’ve gone where I’ve seen a significant change in my skin because their facials are so problem-targeted and innovative. They really keep up with the newest of the newest within rebuilding skin and I’ve always felt safe there with my knowledgable Beauty Therapist (Sutini is my squeeze).

So, to get into it, here are my favourite facials & skin-treatments I have:

Microdermabrasion:

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive skin treatment that uses tiny crystals or other exfoliating surfaces to help remove the superficial layer of dead skin cells.

When you remove the top layer of skin, the body interprets it as an injury. It then quickly replaces the lost skin cells with new, healthy ones. The entire procedure usually takes about 30 minutes for the face – this includes 2 x cleansing + moisturising + sunscreen-application afterwards.

It’s typically used as a cosmetic procedure to treat wrinkles, sun-induced pigmentation (darkened skin), acne scarring, enlarged pores and ‘stretch marks’.

The procedure stimulates blood flow, which increases the nutrition delivered to skin cells. This improves cell production, which improves skin’s elasticity and texture. So, if you have scarring, it may help reduce the appearance of acne scars.

Who it’s NOT for: very sensitive skin, eczema, rosacea, open sores, acne breakouts, sunburn.

I normally have a Micro every 3 weeks.

LED Light Therapy:

Also known as HEALITE. Low-level light therapy with HEALITE is the therapeutic use of light emitting diode light to enhance your body’s natural cellular recovery, improving healing times, relieving pain, subsiding active acne, promoting skin rejuvenation and more. It does so by delivering concentrated energy deep into your tissue affecting your body at a cellular level. The deep penetrating LED lights are soothing, they target deep into the skin cells to heighten their internal functions, photo-stimulate dermal blood flow and induce faster healing decrease pain and reduce acne.

There are 2 different lights in this machine:

Yellow: which is good for wound healing, pain relief, muscle & joint pain, arthritis & skin rejuvenation.

Blue: to control active acne and heal the inflammation underneath your skin to stop the production of oil and bacteria.

This is one of the most non-invasive treatments you can have, and I’m telling you; you will be absolutely GLOWING afterwards!

Read more about my experience with LED Light Therapy here.

I normally have LED Light Therapy once a week or fortnight. Normally combined with microdermabrasion or a peel to help the skin regenerate quicker.

Peels:

I either get the Peel Accelerator which is a unique peel that’s suitable for all skin types and can be intensified by layering with other peels or customised with Vitamin C. It helps to renew, brighten and smooth my skin

Or I get the AHA Enzymatic Peel which is a a gentle micro-exfoliating treatment that’s designed to soothe, hydrate and micro-exfoliate dry, flaking and sensitive skin.

I normally have a peel every 4 weeks.

Skin Needling:

Skin Needling can be performed in two ways. Dermal Rolling, using the cosmedical DNC derma roller or Micro Needling, using the Wireless Tri-M Pen. Your Beauty Therapist will be able to advise what’s best suited for your skin-type and concerns

The treatment involves applying a small roller made of tiny needles to the surface of the skin. The roller creates tiny puncture channels that encourage an organic collagen renewal and regeneration response. This wound healing response is what stimulates new collagen and elastin formation which then assists with plumping out fine lines, wrinkles and acne scarring.

It also reduces the appearance of pigmentation, enlarged pores and stretch marks.

Needling isn’t suitable for acne-inflamed skin; this means this treatment isn’t for you if your skin is still breaking out on a daily basis and have got inflamed acne. You will need to get this under control (like I did), before you continue onto these types of treatments which, in my case, is done to fix the damage that had been done to my skin by acne-scarring and regenerating it.

Read more about my experience with Skin Needling here.

*You need 2-3 times of skin-needling treatments to see results on scarring, however you will experience an instant glow and plumpness to your skin after only a week.

I hope this blog answered your questions as to what type of facials I get to keep my skin happy, healthy and glowing, but discuss your specific needs with your beauty therapist to figure out a treatment plan that will target your areas of skin-concerns.

Yes, I’m probably a little bit biased (this isn’t even sponsored), because I’ve been going to Laser Clinics Australia Bondi Junction for so many years, but I do highly recommend them if you’re based in Sydney or Sydney’s East.

Lots of love, C xx

CERTAIN FOODS THAT CAN POSSIBLY MAKE ACNE WORSE & BETTER.

If you’re human, chances are you’ve suffered from acne at some point in your life. Maybe you still do. Or maybe you’re one of those rare species that has never had to deal with it. If that’s the case; you should feel very lucky.

If you – like myself – have suffered from acne or still do, you might also feel that it can sometimes weigh you down and play tricks with your mind. Just a note to yourself really quickly; you’re still just as beautiful as ever – pimples or not!

Myself; I’ve suffered from cystic acne since I was about 12 years old. And I continue to suffer from it. It’s something that I really have to manage, and in periods of severe stress or when my period is coming on, I always break out because my hormones are increasingly higher which make the oil glands produce more oil (sebum). If a pore becomes blocked, the oil builds up and causes irritation which normally leads to a breakout because the bacteria builds up so quickly in the area.

It’s important to know that cystic acne is very different to “normal’ acne. However, both can affect you mentally and physically on different levels.

There’s long been discussions regarding nutrition and the link it has to acne. Where some believe it has no relevance what so ever as to what we eat and acne and others believe that what we eat shows in our skin. I beg to agree with the latter.

I truly believe that how and what we feed our bodies with – food, words, products etc. – shows in our skin. The skin is our body’s largest organ and has numerous amounts of functions – many more than what you probably know.

Research is showing that a low glycemic index (GI) diet may help people with acne by controlling blood sugar levels. This, in turn, controls levels of metabolic hormones, such as insulin, which can interact with sex hormones to make acne worse.

Hence why I’m writing this article; I’ve found myself, that some food triggers my acne and there are some foods that I try to minimise in order to not breakout. Please only take this as a guideline, as we’re all different, and what my skin may breakout from, yours may not and vice versa.

So let’s get started..

Foods That Can Possibly Cause Acne:

 • Refined Carbs (white rice, white bread, white pasta, white noodles, cereals, crackers)
 • Dairy (cow’s milk, cow’s yoghurt, cheese, ice cream)
 • Fast Food (burgers, fries, pizza, hot dogs, nuggets, soda’s etc. because of the high amount of calories, fat and refined sugar)
 • Milk Chocolate (opt for dark chocolate instead)
 • Whey Protein Powders (It is a rich source of the amino acids leucine and glutamine. These amino acids make skin cells grow and divide more quickly, which may contribute to the formation of acne)
 • Food Sensitivity (as acne is an anti-inflammatory state of the body, eating foods you’re sensitive to will inflame it even further)
 • Refined Sugars (fizzy drinks, honey, agave, maple syrup, candy bars, lollies)

We also know that getting vitamins into the body will help with acne. These vitamins can both be found through food and supplements if you can’t eat it (enough) through your diet.

Helpful Vitamins To Prevent Acne Include:

 • Vitamin A
 • Zinc
 • Vitamin C
 • Selenium
 • Magnesium
 • Omega-3
 • Vitamin E
 • Probiotics

Food That Can Possible HELP Clear Up Acne:

 • Fish or Flaxseed (high in Omega-3’s)
 • Green Tea (full ox antioxidants for the skin-barrier)
 • Oysters, Crab, Pumpkin Seeds & Cashews (full of zinc)
 • Dark Leafy Greens (packed with vitamins, minerals & fibre, but low in calories)
 • Berries (contains phytonutrients that are great for the skin)
 • Almonds & Avocado (full of Vitamin E)
 • Carrots, Sweet Potatoes & Apricots (are all anti-inflammatory and contains lots of beta-carotene to help clear skin)

Have you found that any type of food makes your acne worse or better?
Please let me know in the comments below x

HOW THIS NEW SKINCARE POWER COUPLE REPLACES YOUR DAILY MAKE-UP ROUTINE

Did my tag-line of this post catch your attention? Good, because I’m about to drop some serious (amazing!) news for all you skincare lovers that deal with dull, ageing, and acne-scarred skin (among others) that will seriously rock your world..

For the past 8 weeks I’ve been testing out & using the newest addition to Ole Henriksen’s growing empire of natural skincare.. And it’s been rocking my (skincare)world!

I’m talking about the Glow Cycle Retin-ALT Power Serum & the Goodnight Glow Retin-ALT Sleeping Creme which together creates a skincare routine that’ll help you with:

 • Renewing Skin Texture
 • Smoothing Fine Lines & Wrinkles
 • Improving Skins Firmness & Elasticity
 • Brightening The Skin
 • Deeply Hydrating
 • Reducing Dark Spots
 • Reducing Acne Scarring
 • Minimising Pores

Chances are, you can probably nod yes to a few of the skin-concerns above you’re currently trying to combat or look after.

What’s So Different About This Duo?

Well, neither of these products contain parabens, sulfates, or phthalates and it’s a completely natural range which is such a bonus.

The difference about these products is the ingredient bakuchiol which is a natural alternative to retinol. Now, I’ve used retinol for years. Retinol is very strong on the skin, and isn’t for sensitive skin at all. It also makes your skin extra sun-sensitive and it’s hard to be outside with it on your skin, in case you burn and can leave you with 1st degree burn-damage to your skin. Not safe at all.

What’s different about bakuchiol is that it’s just as effective as retinol, but it’s natural and it doesn’t cause skin-sensitivity, which means it’s suitable for most people as it’s very gentle on the skin.

Both the Serum and the Night Creme has a soft lilac colour that has sparkling light-particles incorporated.
It instantly lifts your face and gives you a glow like no other. Thanks to the brightening properties from the lilac colour, your face will shine (the good way) whenever light or sunbeams hit your face.

You can genuinely get away with using the Serum in the morning and not wear makeup..
I promise you, and it’s coming from someone who deals with acne-scarring and breakouts on the regular.

You don’t have to worry about it breaking the bank, because it’s affordable skincare that lasts a long way. I’ve been using my two products every night and day, and sometimes during the daytime, for at least a month and I’m not even near through 1/4 of them each.

Why am I Such a Fan?

I’ve used Ole Henriksen’s products since I was a teenager (13). Ole is a fellow Dane like myself, and has been servicing and creating bespoke natural skincare for the Hollywood Scene since he was only young. Now, 25 odd years later, his skincare line is one of the best and most-loved all over the world.

I’ve met Ole – himself – many times now, and he continues to be involved and run his businesses as he always have. He’s an incredible man that has so much passion for the skincare industry and making faces happy – because nothing can make you look pretty & glow like happiness can – just as he says so himself.

The products truly work. There’s a reason why his skincare-line continue to sell-out all over and more people talk about the #OleGlow.

Please, let me know if you have any questions at all regarding this skincare-routine, and I’d be happy to chat it through with you x

I know we should never be excited about time going quickly, but I have to admit, I’m pretty excited we’re almost through Winter in Australia and that Spring & Summer is fast approaching..

That said, I did just get 3 weeks in Denmark where we had a glorious 25-30 degrees every day. Which also seemed to throw my skin a bit out of whack resulting in small breakouts, and just dull skin in general.

I’ve tested a whole heap of beauty products again this July and below I’ve picked out my favourite one’s which really had an impact and withstood the different climates from Denmark to Australia.

Oily Skin Balancer by The Jojoba Company:

You’d think my skin would go dry in Winter, but it’s the opposite for me. And especially with the hot to cold temperatures, my skin is all over the place.

This Oily Skin Balancer from The Jojoba Company is great at balancing my oily T-zone and breakouts but still completely moisturising my cheeks and the rest of my face so it doesn’t dry out.

It glides on easily after you’ve washed your face, and I found that it helped soothe my small pimples and helped them stay hydrated which resulted in no scarring when they retracted and disappeared.

I sometimes added in a bit of Retinol Serum to amp up the cell-turnover further, but it’s great on its own as well.

Cold Plunge Pore Mash by Ole Henriksen:

This is the newest brainchild from Ole Henriksen himself. It’s no secret that I’ve loved and adored Ole since my teenage-years as he was the first person who introduced me to skincare and helping me target my acne – fast forward, 16 years later and he’s no less wise.

This detoxifying, cooling clay mask instantly reduces the look of pores, smoothens skin texture and controls oil all day. It’s bright blue which is fun and different, but this doesn’t mean it works less efficiently.

Volume Spray by OUAI HAIRCARE:

I have incredibly thin & fine hair, and not much of it either.. So you can imagine for my hair to even gain the slightest bit of volume, some good products are in order to help me with that OOMPH..

Enter, the OUAI Volume Spray.. I’ve actually used this spray for a little over 7 months after every shower, and I cant live without it.

It’s non-sticky, non-drying and it sprays on easily at the roots. You don’t need much and a little goes a long way. Turn your head upside down when you blow-dry your hair, and discover a new dimension of VOLUME!

Detox Dry Shampoo by DRYBAR:

I’m a huge lover and also in serious need (everyday!) of dry shampoo.. I genuinely think it’s one of the best inventions since sliced bread! Don’t you agree?

However, I’ve come across a lot of dry shampoo’s that 1) makes your hair more greasy or 2) dries your hair out. And then, what’s the point in spending your hard-earned money on it, if you’re just going to be walking around with average, oily or dry hair? My point exactly!

Enter, this little Detox Dry Shampoo from drybar. It’s super light, has a lovely fresh scent and you don’t need much of it, but even if you accidentally overuse it, it doesn’t make your hair gritty and ‘powdered’ like many others do.

I’m a fan, and I keep repurchasing this one along with their Dry Conditioner.

Lip Scrub by Frank Body:

We all want luscious and pouty lips, but how many of us actually take care of them? It’s an area we tend to overlook, but it’s actually one of the first signs of ageing that will show – particularly the skin around the mouth.

I love this little (and easy!) compact coffee lip scrub from Frank Body which has their signature coffee-scent. It leaves the lips soft and blushy (from the blood-flow after scrubbing), but isn’t hard on your skin at all.

The lip scrub is a mix of robusta coffee and coffee seed oil, raw sugar, cold-pressed macadamia oil and ethically sourced beeswax & it’s rich in fatty acids and antioxidants.

Probiotic+ DS Soothing Serum by AMPERNA:

This little helper has really soothed my skin when I had an allergic reaction to a skin-product I used (painful!).

Probiotics is the (newest) craze in almost everything at the moment. From what we eat, to what we put in our bodies and on our skin, probiotics is making a serious comeback because it’s so healing and gentle that most people can benefit from this.

This deeply restorative formula from AMPERNA cools and helps soothe irritated skin and calm redness. The copper and zinc gluconates help to limit the spread of harmful bacteria and replenish the skin barrier.

If you especially suffer from rosacea, acne, dermatitis or any other skin-issues, I’d highly recommend trying this range from AMPERNA to see if it can help you.

Hyaluronic Acid Firming Eye Serum by SWISSE:

This eye serum from Swisse just glides on so easily and instantly moisturises the under-eye area along with it’s soothing properties in the form of it’s gel-like consistency.

It’s designed to boost the skin’s moisture retention capabilities by combining hyaluronic acid, peptides and red algae extract to diminish the appearance of dark circles, and visibly improve skin texture.

I use it both morning and night, and I’ve noticed a big difference in my dark circles under my eyes which has lightened, and also the tightness in the skin.

Hope you found my picks of the month interesting and there was something which took your fancy.

See you next month for my August Beauty Edit.

Skin Needling – What is it and does it really work? /skin-needling-laser-clinics-australia/ /skin-needling-laser-clinics-australia/#comments Wed, 05 Apr 2017 02:27:35 +0000 /?p=1634 As you may all know now, I have been under the safe guidance and care-taking of Laser Clinics Australia Bondi Junction for over a year now....

The post Skin Needling – What is it and does it really work? appeared first on Anna Høgh Groth.

]]>
As you may all know now, I have been under the safe guidance and care-taking of Laser Clinics Australia Bondi Junction for over a year now. LCA Bondi Junction has really guided me as to what was the right treatments for my skin along with specific care at home and a stringent skincare regime in order to combat my cystic acne and get rid of my acne-scarring and pigmentation, but also treat the deeper skinlayers to help manage breakouts, oil-production and clogging of pores which ultimately leads to breakouts and imperfections of the skin.

Needling isn’t suitable for acne-inflamed skin; this means this treatment isn’t for you if your skin is still breaking out on a daily basis and have got inflamed acne. You will need to get this under control (like I did) ,before you continue onto these types of treatments which, in my case, is done to fix the damage that had been done to my skin and regenerate it.
Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through the process of neovascularization and neocollagenesis (yes, big words!), there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

As scary as it may look, skin needling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. These needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. It helps to promote collagen levels within 72 hours and ultimately it what will make your skin G L O W!

I have now had about 4-5 skin needling treatments in the space of 6 months and my skin is glowing like the sun! People actually compliment me on my skin every single day, and this is coming from someone who’s lived the majority of their life battling cystic acne and mountains of breakouts!

IMG_8334

The Treatment Itself:

Firstly a good cleanse (ow two!) is performed to make sure that no bacteria or impurities like makeup is left on your face as the needles will otherwise push it into your skin and will infect the skin – not what we want!

Then, you’ll be lathered all over your face with a numbing cream – the numbing cream will feel funny as it starts to work, because, basically, it numbs your face – which is exactly what we want to achieve, trust me!

After 20-25 minutes the real skin needling treatment will start – it only takes about 10 minutes or so to do your entire face, and you can hardly feel anything (because of the numbing cream) as the treatment takes places – it looks painful because the little punctures will make your skin slightly bleed, but you can’t feel a thing.

12F75B4A-AACA-4302-AF97-FB84081EF641

The “fatty” areas of your face i.e. cheeks will feel fine but the forehead, chin, and along the jawline will be slightly more sensitive as there’s less fat.
The skin needling roller will go over your face twice. Once going sideways and once going downwards (except on your nose). If there are any areas of concern e.g. acne scars they will press the area in a star/asterik/ shape. And yes, as I mentioned, there will be a bit of blood, but you won’t see that as the therapist will wipe this away as they go to prevent any inflammation.

Finishing your skin needling procedure with a HEALITE treatment is very advisable (from me) as it will help your skin regenerate and heal much quicker (we are talking days). You will be quite red for a few hours after, but it’ll go down quickly, so please don’t be scared!

IMG_6247.JPG

Expect shedding of skin in the coming days and dryness – this is normal as your old skin cells are coming off in order to make room for new ones.

A good skincare routine is vital at home to help your skin recover, so talk to the skin therapist about the best solution for you at Laser Clinics Australia.

Let me know if you try it out? Cx

As many of you who have been following my skin journey for quite some years now, know how much effort I have put into healing my skin after suffering from cystic acne since the age of 12-13 years old.

I’m now 27, but taking care of my skin doesn’t stop there. Skin that is prone to acne and sensitive to changes is a life-long commitment to treating it with the right products and facial-treatments in order for it to always look as glowy as you’d want it to and for it to stay healthy especially the older you get as your skin will slow down it’s regeneration-process of turning over new cells, hence why we also get more lines and wrinkles when we grow older.

I tried out a new treatment at Laser Clinics Australia Bondi Junction which I always, always, always go to and have done so for over a year now. They have absolutely saved my skin, and I’m lucky to have had Rochelle (owner of LCA Bondi Junction and a dear friend of mine) to take me under her wing and care for my skin like it was her own. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself as being comfortable in your own skin (literally) means a lot. You can read about my battle with acne here and how many aspects of my life it affected, but you can also read how I ‘cured it’ and got it under control.

Now, back to the new treatment Laser Clinics Australia have just gotten in the door – it’s called HEALITE and it basically heals your skin with LED lighting.

The treatments only take 10-20 minutes and there is no downtime – in fact, you’ll probably have a nap whilst you’re there as it’s so comfortable and soothing.

I had skin needling before this treatment, and had the YELLOW light after – my face felt so soothed, and it’s already glowing and taking away the downtime I normally have after skin needling.

You DON’T need skin needling to have this treatment – this is a standalone treatment, however I got skin needling (which I can highly recommend for skin rejuvenation and acne scarring!!!) so the photos below I’m red in because I just had the skin needling as mentioned.

You can try out this treatment at Laser Clinics Australia Bondi Junction and this it NOT a sponsored post.

It’s what’s truly worked for my skin.

Love, C xx

I had the pleasure to meet with Megan Douglas who is the founder of World Organics, a New Zealand Organic Skincare Brand, a few weeks ago for the launch of the World Organics into Australia and to try one of their facials & massages first-hand.

I had a very light facial as, unfortunately, my facial skin doesn’t stand or deal well with natural products – this doesn’t mean they’re bad, or effective, it actually means they’re purely too potent for my skin to handle as I have very sensitive skin that breaks out very easily.

However, I do enjoy using natural products on the rest of my body, and some can be used on my face with care.

I also really enjoy the range of organic make-up World Organics create. The foundations sit very well with my skin instead of camouflaging it which is a huge plus for me as I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup.

As the skincare-jungle is far and wide, and often hard to figure out, I sat down with Megan over protein-balls, strawberries and green juices and talked everything skincare and how you can find the way to the perfect system for yourself and your skin.

Tell us about yourself? How did you end up becoming a naturopath and creating your own skincare range?

I grew up working in my grandmother’s health food store so I was surrounded by the smell of fresh and natural produce from a young age. I was always interested in health and wellbeing but there were no suitable courses to study at that time so I ended up moving to London to become a fashion designer! After seven years in London, I travelled to India and started creating organic T-shirts. Following three years in India, I returned home and realised there was so much toxicity in the world – causing problems such as chronic fatigue and auto-immune diseases. It was clear to me that it was more than just bad nutrition contributing to these illnesses. This fuelled my drive to go back to my family roots, complete a naturopathic and herbal degree and set up a clinic. I’m now the fifth generation of my family to harness the therapeutic benefits of natural herbal remedies. I’m a creative at heart and by using the skills that I acquired as a designer along with my interest in holistic health, I found a way to combine my two passions and from here, World Organics was born.

How does organic, natural skincare differ from other types of skincare?

“Natural” ingredients are derived, in whole or in part, from natural sources with no synthetic compounds but this doesn’t mean they’re organic. Certified “organic” ingredients are plants that are pure and cultivated without the use of synthetic chemicals, irradiation, or pesticides.
The process to create natural skincare products means using ingredients from the earth rather than synthetic chemicals created in a laboratory.

Why do you think it’s important to use a natural skincare line like World Organics?

It’s a naturopathic belief that we respond instinctively to natural, organic products best of all, meaning better absorption and increased wellbeing. Our bodies recognise natural ingredients and accept them more willingly than synthetic ingredients.
The skin is the body’s largest organ. It provides a direct filter to our bloodstream and internal organs. Effectively, whatever we put on our skin, we are putting inside us.
World Organic’s products are more than 99+% natural in their origin. Our core aim is to offer our customers products that not only smell and feel great, but are actually good for their wellbeing.
Thus, when we design our formulations, we always have in mind the therapeutic qualities of the ingredients we choose.

What is the Philosophy behind the brand?

We believe – first and foremost – that beauty is an expression of who we are: how we act; how we care for others; how we look after ourselves. Our products are designed to look after you.
Made with pure, potent, supercritical extracts and using only the finest natural ingredients, the World Organics products they are not only good for you, they can help you reveal your true beauty.
World Organics was established by building on treasured family insights and combines a holistic health and beauty philosophy, the company values of ‘transparency’ while also cultivating a ‘Trade for Aid’ style partnership with Indian Community Farms.
At World Organics we believe in ‘Farmacy’ and not ‘Pharmacy’ – our commitment to crafting organic skincare and makeup of the highest quality, delivers effective products that are good for your skin, our community of farmers in India (through our Trade for Aid program) and subsequently mother nature.

What is the ‘MUST HAVE” product from the World Organics range?

World Organics is made up of two brands – The Organic Skin Co. which is a premium makeup brand, featuring essential skin and body products and River Veda, which is a luxury rejuvenation and regeneration organic spa and skincare line.
From The Organic Skin Co. line our Luminous Liquid Foundation is packed full of organic antioxidants, cold pressed oils and supercritical extracts. It also acts therefore as a protective moisturizer as well as a foundation, nourishing the skin, whilst providing a flawless finish. Because foundations stay on all day, we believe it’s best to use one that’s free of chemical nasties and that is also nourishing at the same time.
From the River Veda line, the Replenish Wonder Serum is a rich, anti-aging organic serum, high in supercritical extracts and bioactives. It is designed to replenish and revitalise tired skin, whilst also firming, toning and lifting.

What is the ONE thing you wish people knew about natural skincare?

Natural skincare products should be tinted with the colours of the ingredients used and not be pristine white, as many supposedly natural products are. Therefore, beware of pristine white ‘natural’ skincare, there may not be many actives in there at all! Our Calendula Cream for example is a strong yellow colour, just like the Calendula flower itself. It’s yellow because we use the most potent and pure forms of the active organic ingredients available, i.e. the supercritical extracts of calendula and turmeric. We also use them in the quantity necessary to regenerate the skin with the therapeutic goodness of the plants.
World Organics is the global pioneer and home of these powerful ‘Supercritical Extracts’ – the next generation of organic skincare and makeup. This cutting-edge process harnesses the therapeutic properties of the whole plant and unlocks its maximum nutritional and therapeutic benefits. We use over twenty different supercritically extracted plants to deliver super-pure and super-potent organic herbal extracts, that are up to 200 times more concentrated 1 than extracts used in high-street beauty brands.

What’s the best daily skincare routine/steps you can suggest?

– Always remove makeup at the end of the day and cleanse every night.

– Use pH balanced skincare products so that you can maintain your natural skin flora.

– Know your skin type and use suitable products. Skin changes with age and in different environments, so it’s important to re-evaluate your regimes and adjust your skin routines when needed.

– The purity of your makeup is as important as the purity of our skincare. Many people enjoy using natural skincare, yet everyday apply 100’s of questionable chemicals via their makeup products. If you are using or interested in natural skincare, you may also benefit from changing your makeup to a natural brand as well. Natural makeup not only can look amazing on but can also nourish and protect your skin at the same time, making your skincare regime that much more easy.

– Take the time to treat and pamper your skin – smell, breathe and enjoy the products that you use, so that they bring you joy and happiness. Essential oils as used in true natural skincare have a wide range of effects on the mind, body and spirit and can definitely uplift the spirits.

What is the ONE thing you wish people would stop doing when it comes to skincare?

Ensure you’re educated and take the time to read the label of the products you’re using to learn what ingredients are included. Just because something is expensive, it doesn’t mean it will nourish your skin.
Also, beware of greenwashing. A product, which claims to be natural, might only contain 1% natural ingredients. You can protect yourself by looking for certification stamps.
World Organics products have been certified by BioGro, New Zealand’s leading certifier for organic produce and products.

How important is it to find out what your skin type is? Are there any products that ‘fits’ all types?

Skin isn’t static, so it’s important to take note of changes because there’s no such thing as a ‘one product fits all’ approach. Individual skin types can change due to external factors such as the climate and for internal reasons such as medications, hormonal changes, diet and stress. Throughout the year, keep an eye on the way your skin responds to different products – your skin type in the summer will not necessarily be the same as it is in winter and may well require different regimes.
In addition to the right skincare products, eating well, a good night’s sleep and keeping hydrated, will always serve you well.

What’s the best tip on how to treat a break-out if you suddenly wake up with a ‘new friend’ in the morning?

While keeping your skin clean is important, many people use harsh cleansers that can actually strip the skin of important hydration and leave it dull.
If you are prone to break outs, use a mild cleanser that has astringent properties as well, such as our Juniper Berry Face Wash and apply a little Calendula Cream which will have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Where do you see natural skincare at in 5 years time?

Society is more health conscious than ever. We’re seeking transparency from the food and beverage industry, shunning artificial ingredients and it doesn’t stop at what we’re eating. As consumers continue to educate themselves on the benefits of natural skincare and makeup, the demand for products with no unnecessary chemicals, parabens, additives or fillers continues to increase. In the next five years I believe we will see a revolution of people committed to the preference of natural and organic ingredients over chemicals that have never been tested for safety. This preference will be not only for the ingredients we put into our bodies but also for the ingredients we put onto our bodies, in the form of skincare, hair and makeup products.
