On this beautiful Wednesday morning I was invited to the intimate media launch of Detox in a Box along with Sydney’s premium health and wellbeing community to experience & hear more about Detox in a Box and why this superfood needs to be a part of your every day life. The event was hosted by Shireen (founder of Detox in a Box herself) along with Dr. Amit Kapur and Kirsten Shanks (owner & founder of Orchard St. juices)
We were sipping on delicious juices & smoothies from Orchard St. and nibbling at homemade raw, vegan treat from Detox in a Box. A very delicious, nutritious and informative morning indeed!
Detox in a Box is founded and owned by Shireen Collett-Smith. Shireen has a long history with Moringa hailing from the Philippines where her family farms Moringa organically and where it grows wild.
What IS Moringa?
Moringa is one of the world’s most nutritious plant and delivers nutrients to the body without side effects. Moringa has been shown to assist in contributing to the body that which our daily food intake no longer can. This means this superfood is loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and much more – in normal terms ‘things that are really good for your body and digestion!’.
Shireen said, “Growing up and visiting my family in the Philippines, I would feel instantly better and more energetic and I realised the only difference in my diet whilst over there was including Moringa. I began to research the nutrient value and it was clear that Moringa was more than just a tree, it was a ‘super’ food, which I had to share with Australians.”
Moringa leaves used in the Detox in a Box products are one of the richest sources of natural anti-oxidants and chlorophyll. Free radicals in the body create cellular weakness and encourage ageing and damage to good cells. Anti-oxidants, like the ones found in dried Moringa leaves:
- May help prevent damage to cells and stimulate and repair restoration, therefore optimising the body’s performance
- May help reduce cholesterol and control blood sugar levels
- Offer anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory substances, many of which have anti-
- cancer properties
- Supports the liver
- Loaded with the Vitamin B Group, a natural source of energy
- Contains all the essential minerals – Chloride, Chromium, Calcium, Copper, Fluorine,
- Iron, Manganese, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium, Selenium, Sulfur, Zinc
- Contains all 8 of the essential amino acids – the building blocks of protein
Dr Amit Kapur, Chief Medical and Scientific Officer said, “ Moringa has an impressive range of medicinal uses with high nutritional value. Moringa is known as the ‘Miracle Tree’ due to the amount of anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatories, vitamins and minerals it contains, which can be summed up as everything your body needs and more to fill the nutritional gaps and enhance a super lifestyle.”
Detox in a Box Moringa organic herbal teas and superfood powder are gluten free, dairy free, caffeine free, alkaline, and suitable for vegans and vegetarians and sugar free – perfect for my lifestyle. How about yours?

I just read your story and I could not believe it. I actually also attended the ‘detox in a box’ media launch (I’m the intern for KitayPR) and when I saw you I thought you looked so healthy, sporty and full of energy! It’s unbelievable to think you have gone through such rough times. You are such an inspiration for fighting through those difficulties to come to where you are now and to provide advice for others to lead a healthy lifestyle.
I wish you all the best for the future!
Oh, thank you so much Camille. That really means a lot. I’m so sorry we didn’t get to speak more at the event – hopefully next time :)
Thank you for all your lovely words on my recipes, so happy you like them
