Product Review: DYSON Small Ball Vacuum

Have you ever had this thought to yourself growing up: “When I have saved enough to finally buy a DYSON it means I’ve finally grown up and become a proper adult?” I know, it’s slightly laughable, but nonetheless true in my instance.

Particularly in Denmark, where I grew up, and I’d think even throughout the World, DYSON really is the leading vacuum brand with it’s invention of cyclonic vacuum technology meaning no loss of suction. EVER!

“Like everyone we get frustrated by products that don’t work properly. As design engineers we do something about it. We’re all about invention and improvement.” – James Dyson

DYSON really is the Rolls Royce of Vacuum Cleaner brands, and you feel it instantly when you clean with it.

I have a 2-bedroom apartment in Bondi Beach with Hardwood Floorboards + Carpet in the bedroom. I’m by no means a messy person, actually quite the opposite, which is probably also why I invest in my home and why I’d invest in a DYSON.
That said, I need something that makes cleaning a breeze. Because, let’s be honest, who really thoroughly enjoys cleaning? Yes, we are already on the same page!

Dyson asked me to road-test their new Small Ball Vacuum Cleaner they have recently launched into Australia.
For all you tech-savvy individuals out there (I know you’re reading!), here’s a few details to set your teach-  & conveniency-hearts racing:

  • Light to carry
Weighs just 5.5kgs for easier lifting upstairs and around the home.
  • Saves Storage Space
Big when you need it, small when you don’t. Saves up to 40% more storage than Dyson’s DC65/Ball Animal full size upright vacuum.
  • Advanced Self-adjusting Cleaner Head
Automatically adjusts between carpets and hard floors – sealing in suction. Direct drive motor pushes bristles deeper into carpet. Carbon fibre filaments to remove fine dust from hard floors.
  • 2 Tier Radial™ cyclones
19 cyclones, arranged across two tiers, work in parallel to increase airflow and capture fine dust.
  • Ball™ technology
Improved stability to maneuverer easily around furniture, obstacles and into difficult places around the house.
  • 25% Longer Cleaning Reach
Cable, wand and hose extends to 12.96m, 25% longer compared to our previous generation small upright vacuum.
  • One-click bin emptying
Quick single button cyclone release and bin empty. No need to touch the dirt.

It’s super easy to clean with. The upright cleaner is a lot better for my back, as I don’t bend as much over as I normally do with a barrel vacuum cleaner. This DYSON Small Ball is a little heavier to move around, nonetheless efficient. It get’s into the smallest of places, and there’s no ‘forward and back’ to suck the dirt away, it cleans in the first sweep because of it’s suction power! Efficient is the keyword here, guys.

With no bags to change or clean, it’s super easy to click-off the ‘container’ itself, empty the dirt in the bin, and continue cleaning. I only ever clean mine every 4th or 5th time. Simple, easy!

Yes, it is an investment, but the good thing about DYSON is what sets them apart from all other Vacuum Cleaners out there – the no loss of suction! Meaning, you won’t have to invest in another vacuum cleaner for many, many years to come. It even comes with 2 years guarantee. How good is that?

The DYSON Small Ball Vacuum Cleaner retails for $599.00; for the multifloor and the allergy is $699.00.
