2-week Trial: The Super Elixir Alkalising Greens

You have probably heard it time and again; you have to eat more greens! Well, truth is; you do! In my opinion, you can never, ever over-do it on the greens-side.

I’m a huge fan of supplements, tonics, vitamins, herbs, spices.. You name it, I love it! And have probably also tried it. I wish Australia was a bit more fast-forward with those things however, which is perhaps why I can literally spend HOURS in Erewhon Markets in LA reading ingredients lists on every single jar they have in the store.. Yep, you know where to find me in LA.

So, you could potentially imagine my excitement when Welleco asked if I wanted to do a 2-week trial of The Super Elixir Alkalising Greens supplement.

I received a beautiful, large Super Elixir black jar which is perfect for refills (because it will be refilled, I’ll tell you that already!), and looks super cute, chic and luxurious on the kitchen counter. Who doesn’t like a bit of oomph in the kitchen, right?

I was excited to get started on using The Super Elixir and right away whipped up a new smoothie-bowl recipe including The Super Elixir of course.

The Super Elixir Smoothie Bowl by Caroline Groth

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 2 tbsp natural or greek yoghurt
  • 1 handful of fresh spinach
  • 1 handful of fresh rocket
  • 1 handful of fresh blueberries
  • 4 fresh dates
  • 6-8 almonds
  • 2 tsp pepitas
  • 2 tsp The Super Elixir Alkalising Greens
  • 1 cup coconut water

Blend all ingredients and top with your favourite fruits, seeds and a sprinkle of The Super Elixir

It’s absolutely delicious, and what I absolutely love about these Alkalising Greens supplement is that they taste great! I’ve tried a lot of green supplements and some tend to have a very bitter flavour, however, not this one.
The best description would be that it tastes somewhat like a mix of sweet leafy greens with a bit of lemon.

If I don’t have it on/in my breakfast, I add it into my water. Just 2 tsp’s in a bottle – shake it well – and then sip on it throughout the day.

Because I have started my mornings with The Super Elixir in water or food, I have really noticed a difference in my energy levels. It’s been great starting the morning with the alkalising greens in water as it’s woken me up before I’ve had my coffee. I’ve also felt a shift in my tummy. I have an uber-sensitive tummy, and the smallest shifts and food will see it bloat like there’s no tomorrow!

The Super Elixir has definitely helped keeping the bloat at bay, and even some days have kept it away completely – these are the days where I tend to have The Super Elixir mixed in my water all throughout the day – a little bit goes a long away, so I’ve found.

It has also helped clear my skin tremendously by helping my stress-levels come down and balancing my hormone’s. When I started on the trial I had so many breakouts, because I was running around like a headless chicken, and my skin was the give-away! Even after a few simple days, I noticed a clearer and more radiant glow to my skin, helping my scars and zits heal quicker than before.

An unbalanced acidic body is a by-product of today’s increasingly acidic diet and stressful lifestyle. Refined sugar, too much alcohol, processed convenience foods that are nutritionally ‘dead’, an imbalance of animal versus clean plant products, teamed with pollution and stress can all be contributing factors.

Your pH balance is linked to many health problems large and small, including inflammation, low energy, digestion, endocrine function and accelerated ageing of the cells.

The best way to give your body the nutrients it craves is through natural, whole foods.

As you possibly know, the co-founder of The Super Elixir is none else than super-babe and wellness-aficionado, Elle Macpherson and at the age of 53, I think, she’s also a perfect example of how nurturing your insides, make you glow on the outside for life.

So what’s in it?

Let’s have a look at the Key Unique Ingredients:

POMEGRANATE: High levels of punicalagin which works to neutralise free radicals and is rich in antibacterial and antioxidant properties.

KELP: A nutrient rich sea plant that contains iodine to stimulate a sluggish thyroid and encourage a healthy metabolism.

TURMERIC: Tumeric is high in curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties and the ability to combat bacteria, viruses and fungi.

ALOE VERA: Contains vital vitamins and minerals for skin health. Commonly known for treatment of burns and sunburn, aids wound healing and fights against the ageing process.

HORSETAIL: A plant high in the unique beauty mineral silica that is necessary for the repair of tissues and useful to the body for repairing collagen and bone strength

DANDELION: Known to help remove harmful toxins from the liver and stimulate bile production. An unhealthy liver can increase acidity in the body and results in poor health issues.

A combination of 45 nutrients to maintain good nutrition & help to restore your body’s healthy pH balance, so it can function at its optimum level!

I can’t actually express how impressed and excited I am to have discovered this, or, correctly, that I was introduced to this. This will absolutely be something I will continue to keep in my daily routine for years to come.

Caroline xx
